How It All Started
I was born in good ol' East Berlin, brought up behind the Iron Curtain. When the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, it represented a transition in my life. I still get goose bumps just thinking about it. Having lived my complete childhood just meters from the Berlin Wall, and never previously having been able to see the other part of my city, it was as if all of a sudden somebody pushed open the door to the world. Luckily for me, it came at the perfect moment because I was very young and a huge new world of opportunities arose, like a phoenix from the ashes.
Grasping this opportunity, I decided to leave Germany and moved to London to learn English. It was the single most important decision in my entire life. To be young and in London, what else can you ask for? London is a melting pot of cultures and gives everyone opportunity for growth. I did my university degree there and learned that regardless of your identity, culture, or language, so long as you provide real value to people you can live an amazing life. This openness and open mindedness still holds the core of my inner beliefs.
As long as one can truly solve another person's problem, in other words, fixing an issue that is highly valued, while also genuinely caring about it, the world will compensate you generously. That's what I live by day in and day out.
